3rd generation of sound-insulating panel systems

In ZIPS III-Ultra, we have introduced supports made of special elastomer Sylomer to improve the sound insulation properties of the sandwich panel.

Despite not being thick, ZIPS III-Ultra can handle 80% of noise canceling tasks and provides a very high value of 16–18 dB of additional sound insulation.

Installed without a frame directly onto the surface of walls and ceilings.

8 special supports made of Sylomer elastomer

Special vibration isolators made of Sylomer elastomer support the ZIPS III-Ultra panels on walls and ceilings.

When relaxed, the supports bulge above the plane of the sandwich panel. After installation, the supports are pressed up, resulting in a non-rigid mounting to the surface. The millimeter-wide gap between the insulated surface and the acoustic wool on the back of the panel serves as a buffer to reduce direct noise transmission.

Additional sound insulation for walls and ceilings up to 18 dB

Due to the combination of unique vibration joints and Sylomer elastic supports, the panel's lack of tight coupling and use of light sound-absorbing and heavy sound-reflecting layers ensure reduced transmission of sound waves.

ZIPS III-Ultra additional airborne noise isolation value is 16 to 18 dB.

The system is only 55 mm thick!

The system is the most efficient in terms of thickness/result ratio.

Sound-insulating panel system ZIPS III-Ultra consists of 42.5 mm thick ZIPS III-Ultra sandwich panels, and 12.5 mm special finishing plasterboard. Total thickness of the system is 55 mm.

Features

Eight vibration-isolating joints with special supports made of Sylomer elastomer beneath are unique components of ZIPS III-Ultra panels.

The supports create a millimeter-wide space between the insulated surface and the acoustic wool on the back of the panel, acting as a buffer to ensure less direct noise transmission. They also provide a non-rigid mounting to the surface.

Maintenance info

Composition and description

ZIPS III-Ultra Sound-insulating panel system consists of 42.5 mm thick ZIPS III-Ultra sandwich panels and special 12.5 mm finishing plasterboard. Total thickness of the system is 55 mm.

The layers of glass-fiber board and moisture-resistant backerboard make up sandwich panels ZIPS III-Ultra. Each sandwich panel includes 8 vibroinsulating joints for mounting.

Eight special vibration supports made of Sylomer are used to mount the system onto the wall or floor slab. These supports bulge more than 10 mm above the sandwich panel plane, but when assembled, they are pressed up and the minimum system thickness combined with the plasterboard amounts to 55 mm.

Storage

Store ZIPS III-Ultra panels in a dry, enclosed space, away from any precipitation.

The panels should be laid horizontally on wooden pallets, boards or other shoring materials to exclude sagging.

Features of the material usage

ZIPS III-Ultra sound-insulating panel system is used for extra sound insulation of walls and ceilings and is mounted without a frame.

Do not use the system for partitions and ceilings less than 80 mm thick.

Surface irregularities of walls and ceiling are allowed of max 10 mm per linear meter of surface.

Popular questions

Alex 6 December 2022
Do I have to use gypsum plasterboard?
Expert answer

By adding a finishing layer of specialized gypsum plasterboard to the ZIPS system, you can preserve the system's sound insulation efficiency, boost its bearing capacity, and make finishing easier.

For a better effect, we recommend using a weighted gypsum plasterboard with a surface mass (about 12 kg / m2).

Vera 6 December 2022
Can I mount a shelf onto ZIPS III-Ultra?
Expert answer

Yes, you can. Most household hanging items fit inside the maximum load of 50 kg per linear meter that may be hung on the ZIPS structure on the wall.

How should I set up the sockets?
Expert answer

We recommend using surface mounted sockets and switches, while the hole for wires, if laid behind the sound-insulating structure, should be insulated with Ultrakustik VS sealant. If a built-in option is required, then Ultrakustik Box socket boxes can be used to preserve the efficiency of the design.

Anita Janković 6 December 2022
Can I install the panel on an uneven surface?
Expert answer

We recommend installing the system only on smooth / putty-leveled surfaces. The enclosing structure should not vary along its length by more than 20 mm. In case it exceeds 20 mm, ST-supports shall be used. ZIPS III-Ultra is an exception, as it can adjust to unevenness of up to 50 mm.

Milena Petrović 6 December 2022
I want to use the thinnest sound-insulating material on the walls adjacent to my neighbors’ apartment. Is ZIPS III-Ultra the best option for me?
Expert answer

Yes, ZIPS III-Ultra is the most effective sound-insulating solution in terms of thickness/efficiency ratio.

Anita Janković 6 December 2022
Why is ZIPS III-Ultra more expensive than ZIPS Vector?
Expert answer

Additional supports are built-in into ZIPS III-Ultra panels, which ensure a gap between the panel and the enclosing surface, due to which the sound insulation efficiency of the structure increases while its thickness remains the same.
