ZIPS-4
4th generation Sound-insulating Panel System
ZIPS-4 is a soundproofing panels system with surface leveling function.
Build-in panel gap adjustment system allows to install the system without preliminary leveling of the surface with unevenness up to 50 mm (2 in).
Mounted without a frame directly onto the surface of walls and ceilings.
Six Adjustable Supports. Installation Without Preliminary Surface Leveling
The ZIPS-4 sandwich panels have six special vibration-insulating built-in supports made of Sylomer material, which perform two functions: precise adjustment of the plane of the sound-insulating lining and reduction of vibration transmission through the structure of the sound-absorbing material.
This allows to obtain an even surface in case of unevenness of the wall of up to 20 mm (0.8 in) and, up to 50 mm (2 in) when using additional ST-pads that are included in the delivery set.
Additional Sound Insulation for Walls and Ceilings of up to 19 dB
The absence of rigid connections and the use of lightweight sound-absorbing and heavy sound-reflecting layers in the panel combined with Sylomer's unique vibration joints and elastic supports provide an effective reduction in sound wave transmission.
Additional airborne sound isolation value for ZIPS-4 is from 16 to 19 dB.
The system is only 55 mm (2.2 in) thick!
ZIPS-4 sound-insulating panel system consists of 42.5 (1.7 in) mm thick ZIPS-4 sandwich panels and special 12.5 mm (0.5 in) thick finishing plasterboard sheets. The total thickness of the system is 55 mm (2.2 in).
Features
ZIPS-4 differs from the other panels of the ZIPS family by the fact that they have six adjustable supports made from Sylomer material which perform two following functions:
- precise adjustment of the plane of sound-insulating lining;
- reduction of vibration transmission through the structure of the sound-absorbing material.
Adjustment of a gap between the panel and the wall or ceiling is done with hexagonal adjustment screws, accessible from the face side of the panel. This allows to obtain an even surface in case of unevenness of the wall of up to 20 mm (0.8 in) and, up to 50 mm (2 in) when using additional ST-pads that are included in the delivery set.

Which ZIPS is Best for Myself? Comparison Table
System | Material to be sound-insulated | Efficiency, dB | Total thickness, mm | Noises to be reduced | Super power and its application |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
ZIPS Vector | Foam concrete, brick, tongue-and-groove block | ΔRw up to 12-14 dB | 53 | Talking, TV, radio | The thinnest panel of the ZIPS family. More often is used for sound-insulation of walls and partitions. |
ZIPS Modul | Brick, concrete | ΔRw = 16-18 dB | 83 | Loud talking, shouting, TV, dog barking, water noise | Effective system, suitable for solution of 80% of all household noise issues |
ZIPS Cinema | Concrete, brick | ΔRw = 19-20 dB | 133 | Loud talking, shouting, TV, dog barking, water noise, noise from a loud audio system or a home theater | The most effective sound-insulating system in the entire ZIPS range. When you use this system, it means that everything that can be done has been done. |
ZIPS III-Ultra | Foam concrete, brick, concrete | ΔRw = 16-18 dB | 55 | Loud talking, shouting, TV, dog barking, water noise | The ultimate system in terms of the thickness/efficiency ratio. Despite being thin, it ensures great additional sound insulation and is suitable for 80% of tasks. |
ZIPS-4 | Foam concrete, brick, concrete | ΔRw = 16-19 dB | 55-105 | Loud talking, shouting, TV, dog barking, water noise | Family flagship . This system is for those who value their time and money. It not only ensures top efficiency despite its lesser thickness, but also allows to level the surface using adjusting supports, thus avoiding wet processes. |
ZIPS Slim | Foam concrete, aerated concrete, tongue-and-groove block | ΔRw = 11 dB | 37.5 | Conversations, TV, radio | The thinnest panel of ZIPS family. It is used for sound insulation of inter-flat walls made of foam concrete with a thickness of < 200 mm |

Composition and description
ZIPS-4 sound-insulating panel system consists of 42.5 mm (1.7 in) thick ZIPS-4 sandwich panels and special 12.5 mm (0.5 in) thick finishing plasterboard sheets. The total thickness of the system is 55 mm (2.2 in).ZIPS-4 sandwich panels are a combination of gypsum plasterboard and staple fiberglass. Each sandwich panel includes eight vibration insulating joints for installation on the surface.
Six special adjustable supports made from Sylomer material are provided to mount the system onto a wall or floor slab. In their initial position, these supports protrude by more than 5 mm (0.2 in) above the sandwich panel plane, but during installation, they are pressed in and the minimum system thickness together with the finishing layer of plasterboard does not exceed 55 mm (2.2 in).
Storage
ZIPS-4 panels must be stored in dry, enclosed premises, away from any precipitation.
The panels should be stacked horizontally on wooden pallets, boards, or other padding materials to avoid sagging.
Features of the material usage
ZIPS-4 sound-insulating panel system is used for additional sound insulation of walls and ceilings and is mounted without a frame.
Do not use the system for partitions and ceilings less than 80 mm (3 in) thick.
Irregularities on walls and ceilings not exceeding 50 mm (2 in) per linear meter of surface are allowed.

Yes, you can install the ZIPS-4 panel system even if your renovation has already been finished. You can install it directly onto the wall. You do not have to remove the wallpaper. You just need two layers of Ultrakustik Tape 100 laid along the perimeter. The sound-insulating lining should be brought up to the ceiling overlap and rest on the floor screed (the finish coating should be cut off).
No. This type of sound-insulating linings allows only for surface-mounted light fixtures.
The surface of gypsum plasterboard lining is suitable for any finishing including painting. It is not recommended to paint it with lime-based or liquid glass-based paints. Finishing puttying and smoothing should be performed along the entire surface of the lining.
